Glen Rock, NJ - MSO®, Inc. (The Mutual Service Office, Inc.) has announced that their unique Personal Umbrella program has been approved in New York. The MSO Homeowners program was previously approved in the State.

Highlights of the Personal Umbrella Program include:

  • Option to write as an endorsement to the underlying Homeowners or as a stand alone.
  • Excess Liability or Umbrella format.

MSO COMMERCIAL LIABILITY PROGRAM UPDATED


Glen Rock, NJ - MSO®, Inc. (The Mutual Service Office, Inc.) has announced that their Commercial Liability program has been updated in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Classifications have been revised, and several new endorsements have been introduced.

Highlights of the changes include:

  • New classifications to reflect emerging industries, such as Green/Solar Construction and Correspondence/Online Schools.
  • Revised classifications to reflect new terminology. For example Five and Ten Cent Stores are now Discount/Dollar Stores.
  • Added cross reference classifications to make the program easier to use.
  • Introduction of Additional Insured Endorsements for Primary/Non-Contributory coverage.

AL SORENSEN JOINS MSO BOARD OF TRUSTEES


Glen Rock, NJ - MSO®, Inc. (The Mutual Service Office, Inc.) is pleased to announce the addition of Allen (Al) Sorensen, MBA, CPCU to their Board of Trustees. Mr. Sorensen is Vice President, Corporate Underwriting for United Fire Group, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. United Fire recently acquired Mercer Insurance Group, a longtime MSO member company.

Mr. Sorensen has been with United Fire for 30 years, and has held a number of line and management positions. His current responsibilities include building consensus among regions on underwriting procedures/workflows and corporate functions such as the annual underwriting meeting, regional office underwriting audits, market conduct exams, vendor management, product development, rate/rule/form filings, and annual rate reviews for major lines of business.

When asked about joining the MSO Board, Mr. Sorensen responded: “I look forward to serving on the MSO, Inc. Board of Trustees. Like MSO, United Fire Group continues to expand our national footprint. Domiciled in Lockport, NY, the company was founded in 1877 as The Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Orleans and Niagara Counties, and began business on February 19, 1878. The current name was adopted in 1987.

MSO PROMOTES JAN KOZLOWSKI AND PEPPER TREUVEY


Glen Rock, NJ - Congratulations are in order for longtime MSO employees, Jan Kozlowski and Pepper Treuvey, who have been promoted to Vice President, Insurance Programs and Regulatory Compliance and Senior Insurance Analyst/Corporate Secretary, respectively.

Jan Kozlowski has worked for MSO since 1989. Prior to joining MSO he spent 15 years in the ISO home office where he was responsible for commercial casualty product development. His current duties include identifying and analyzing the needs of MSO's clients, managing the development, introduction and maintenance of the various personal and commercial insurance products serviced by MSO, and monitoring the effects on the P & C insurance environment from the state and federal regulatory bodies.

Jan graduated from Saint Peter's College with a B.S. in Economics and Mathematics. He also earned his MBA from Liberty University. Jan is an active member of several insurance trade organizations and is currently serving on the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC) Government Affairs Committee and Underwriting & Loss Prevention Committee. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Virginia Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (VAMIC). Jan resides in Forest, Virginia with his wife, Patti. He enjoys spending time with his five grandchildren.

As Senior Insurance Analyst, Pepper Treuvey is involved with developing and updating the various personal and commercial MSO insurance products. She also works closely with MSO clients to assist them with their company specific filings. As Corporate Secretary, Pepper attends the Board of Trustee meetings. She sends out notices of the meetings, maintains and distributes all relevant materials, takes minutes, and receives and coordinates the minutes of the committee meetings.

Pepper Treuvey has been with MSO since 1980. She is a licensed NJ insurance broker and has earned the designation of Associate in Underwriting from the Insurance Institute of America (IIA). Pepper resides in Pompton Lakes, NJ with her Husband, Bob, a Black Lab, a Collared Dove and a Parakeet. She enjoys cycling, birding and hiking.

JOY CASAPULLO RETIRES FROM MSO AFTER 38 YEARS OF SERVICE


Glen Rock, NJ - MSO®, Inc. (The Mutual Service Office, Inc.) congratulates longtime MSO employee Joy Casapullo on her retirement. Joy joined MSO on February 1, 1973, when it was still known as The Mutual Service Office. Utilizing her bookkeeping background, Joy started as a Homeowners Policy Auditor. This was when all policies issued by an insurance company were sent to the rating bureau to verify accuracy in rating, forms and endorsements used, and statistical coding.

By 1979, Joy had mastered all of the auditing and clerical functions of the office, and was promoted to Supervisor of the unit. In 1986 she was promoted to Manager - Office Operations. As Manager, she was in charge of all of the internal functions of the office. In 1989, her responsibilities were expanded to include the field staff. In 1990, Joy was appointed Assistant Secretary, and in 1991 she was named Corporate Secretary. Joy was elected to the position of Vice President and Corporate Secretary in 1993. She held these positions until her switch to permanent part time status in the fall of 2010, when she continued to serve as Manager of Operations and Human Resources.

In addition to her responsibilities of managing the office, product distribution and field functions, Joy kept track of all of the projects at MSO. She visited member companies and assisted in training office, company and agency personnel. In one way or another, Joy has been involved in training every employee MSO has had over the past 30 years, from the Mail Clerk to the President.

"Joy has been a dedicated and valued employee and will be greatly missed by all of us at MSO. We wish her great success as she moves on to a new phase in her life." said MSO CEO Jan Scites.

Joy and her husband Mickey lived in Hawthorne, NJ for 42 years. They moved to their current home in Brick, NJ in 2010 in order to be closer to their granddaughter, Kristina. In addition to her work at MSO, Joy was an active member of the Advisory Council of the Co-operative Business Education Program for Hawthorne High School since 1983. As such, she assisted in the High School Career Days. Joy has attended various management courses and seminars, and completed the Introduction to Insurance and General Insurance courses from the Insurance Institute of America.

Joy's plans for retirement include volunteer work and spending time with her granddaughter. MSO congratulates Joy on her many years of fine service to the organization and its member companies.
