Personal Lines Program

The MSO Personal Lines Program consolidates all MSO personal lines provisions, maximizing integration
and consistency of coverage and rating components. Each program (Homeowners, Combination Dwelling,
Mobilehomeowners, Inland Marine) includes coverage and rating provisions specific to the program; however,
approximately 90% of the rules, rating and endorsement provisions are the same under all three major
programs.

Program Highlights
The primary differences between the programs
are eligibility and premium tables.
All forms and endorsements use a prefix to identify their program use:
- MHO - Homeowners
- MDW - Dwelling Property
- MDL - Dwelling Liability
- MBO - Mobilehomeowners
- MIM - Inland Marine
In addition, an "MPL" prefix denotes forms and endorsements that are common to all programs.
Both the manual and forms use program Logos (symbols) to easily identify the particular program that
applies. Since MPL forms apply to all programs, they include all program Logos.
Common Provisions Form
A single Common Provisions Form (MPL 01) applies to all programs. This includes all Section I
and II coverage provisions other than:
- The specific causes of loss (perils).
- The dollar limits of liability for Supplemental Coverages and certain personal property.
- Provisions unique to a specific program.
The basic coverages and supplemental coverages are identical in all programs. The same exclusions
and conditions apply uniformly.
Section II coverage shown in MPL 01 is Comprehensive Personal Liability (CPL) type coverage.
Under the Combination Dwelling Program, this can be replaced with premises type coverage by
attaching MDL 1.
* If Inland Marine coverage is written independently, MPL 01 is replaced by MPL 02: Common
Provisions Form, Special Coverages.
Supplemental Coverages
Under conventional forms, certain coverages are "found" in the form of exceptions to
exclusions. Under the MSO programs, such coverages are specifically described and clarified
in the Supplemental Coverages sections of MPL 01.
