State Filing Services

MSO recently announced the introduction of a nationwide electronic state filing service. As a licensed third-party filer, we offer a fee-based filing service to member and non-member companies. We have already done such filings in Nevada and Oregon. A number of states, including New Jersey as of January 1, 2009, are requiring that all filings be made through SERFF. MSO staff has extensive experience in using SERFF. For the past several years, all filings for MSO programs, as well as company-specific filings, have been done through SERFF.

Education Efforts

PIA Presentation
The Professional Insurance Agents of NJ (PIANJ) invited MSO to present a continuing education program at PIA’s “March Madness” event, on March 11, 2009. The seminar, which included lively discussion, was entitled “Understanding MSO Personal Lines.” It offered an overview of the MSO programs, including a discussion of the differences between MSO and other industry programs.

Tech Meeting
The next MSO Technical Users’ Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in New Jersey. Mindy Pollack from Gen Re will speak about two timely topics: Employment Practices Liability and Current Trends in Policy Language.

Mindy Pollack is Vice President in Gen Re’s Treaty Department, and the Business Development Specialist (BDS) for Employment Practices Liability Insurance. Mindy is an attorney with more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. In 2000, Mindy joined Gen Re’s Marketing Department to develop research materials and publications in property, casualty and specialty lines, including EPLI.

In her current EPLI role at Gen Re, Mindy works with insurance companies to develop EPLI products for their markets. She assists in areas of coverage, forms/rates, claims, and marketing strategies and tools.
